GTA Online has become one of Rockstar’s main focuses, and with so many new features, heists, vehicles, and other additions being published on a regular basis, players want to play with their friends across diffrent platforms.
Does GTA Online have crossplay in 2021?
Despite the fact that GTA Online has been around since 2013 and has got big upgrades like the summer’s Los Santos Tuners event, which added a ton of new material, the game is still one of the most popular games around.
Players really want Rockstar to bring cross-platform gaming, with GTA Online dominating the market on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, with Xbox Series X and PS5 to follow next year.
Why isn’t crossplay available for GTA Online?
While GTA Online is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation, the bad news is that it does not support crossplay, which means gamers cannot play with their friends on other platforms.
That’s mainly because when Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V and its online component released in 2013, crossplay wasn’t possible due to numerouse agreements between Xbox and PlayStation. This was all still before crossplay was considered a possibility.
In 2018, Fortnite established the standard for game-to-game crossplay. For the first time, gamers on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and mobile could all play together for the first time. Although this has been the industry norm for multiplayer games, GTA Online has yet to follow.
Making GTA Online cross-play would very certainly need a significant amount of effort, which isn’t in line with the game’s present ambitions. Could crossplay be possible when the next-gen editions of GTA V are released in early 2022?
Will GTA Online get crossplay in the future?
There is no official information on when GTA Online will be able to play with other players. Crossplay may be included in the improved editions of GTA Online, which are expected to debut for the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
Furthermore, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick promised that the new versions of GTA V won’t be a “simple port.” He said: “We actually take the time to do the very best job we can making the title different for the new release, for the new technology that we’re launching it on.”
Unfortunately, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Online have been postponed until March 2022, so we’ll have to wait until early next year to learn more about the improvements made by Rockstar. It’s unclear whether cross-platform play will be featured.
