According to an insider, the removal of GTA IV related mods by Take-Two and an easter egg in the GTA Trilogy- The Definitive Edition could hint at a GTA 4 remastered edition.
Takedown of mods
Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has chosen to utilize DMCA takedown letters to delete some more GTA mods and fan-remakes, while users continue to criticize the recently released GTA Trilogy.
The modding site Liberty City had to remove some mods after Take-Two contacted them.
The mods that were removed:
- GTA Advance PC Port Beta 2;
- The Lost and Damned Unlocked for GTA 4;
- GTA IV EFLC The Lost And Damned (65%).
We remember the last time they targeted strictly the PS2-era games GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas. Not long after the removal of fan-made mods, Rockstar announced remastered versions of all three vintage PS2 GTA games were published the same year not long after. Those games were published earlier this week to generally unfavorable reviews, with users reporting a slew of issues and graphical flaws on social media sites like Twitter and Reddit.
Because of what occurred the last time, some people are assuming that these takedowns are proof that a GTA 4 remastered version is on the way. Though plans may and have changed, Rockstar may be more cautious to release future re-releases in light of the bad reaction of the fans to the GTA remasters.
Easter egg in GTA III – The Dedfinitive Edition
There was a subtle billboard update in Grand Theft Auto III: The Definitive Edition might as well be hinting at a GTA 4 remastered edition. In the original Grand Theft Auto III, a sign outside the game’s airport revealed that the next game would play in Vice City which turned out to be correct, as GTA Vice City was announced half a year later.
The billboard in the remastered version of Grand Theft Auto III shows an updated image on which it says “See you SOON” with an airplane taking off from Los Santos. However, this could be interpreted as a hint for Grand Theft Auto 6 or a GTA Online Expanded & Enhanced.
