GTA Trilogy remastered: code found in Rockstar Launcher update
In the latest update of the Rockstar Games Launcher, several new lines of code appeared that show: Grand Theft Auto III – Unreal, Grand Theft Auto Vice City – Unreal, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Unreal. This fits up with recent rumors that the games will be built on the Unreal Engine, but many believed that this was improbable given Rockstar’s existing game engine, RAGE.
However, considering the recent acquisition of Ruffian Games by Rockstar Dundee, the company behind the Crackdown series, which also utilizes Unreal Technology 4, it would seem logical for the designers to stay with what they know rather than learning a new engine. That’s why the unreleased GTA Trilogy will be made in the Unreal Engine instead of the RAGE engine.
